"फाज़िल" शब्द का अर्थ होता है एक निपुण, जानकार, गुणी, श्रेष्ठ, उत्कृष्ट और प्रख्यात व्यक्ति। फाजिल्का शहर का नाम इसी शब्द से पड़ा | नाम की तरह ज्ञान अर्जित करने की चेष्टा ने ही फाजिल्का में कई पुस्तकालयों की बुनियाद रक्खी | फाजिल्का की बुनियाद रखने वाले लोगो ने इसी नाम के अनुरूप फाजिल्का को कई स्कूल कॉलेज और पुस्तकालय दिए जिसमे फाजिल्का के लोग, शिक्षक, समाज सेवी या शहर के प्रबंधन को देखने वाले लोग शामिल थे | बात अगर आज़ादी से पहले की की जाये तो महान शिक्षाविद स्वामी केशवानंद ने 1911 में "वेदांत पुष्प वाटिका" नाम की श्री साधु आश्रम फाजिल्का में लाइब्रेरी की स्थापना की | फिर आहूजा परिवार की और से प्रताप बाग़ में एक लाइब्रेरी की स्थापना की गयी | 1940 में फाजिल्का में मुंशी राम लखपति जी ने डिग्री कॉलेज की स्थापना के साथ कॉलेज में एक बड़ी लाइब्रेरी की स्थापना की | 100 साल पहले बने फाजिल्का के संस्कृत कॉलेज की संस्कृत की लाइब्रेरी आज भी अपने उन पुरानी किताबों की जिल्दों से अपनी महान गाथा कह रही है | आजादी के बाद की बात की जाये तो आखिरी लाइब्रेरी डॉक्टर गोबिंद राम शर्मा जी के नाम से शुरू की गयी, जो की उनके परिवार और बेटियों की और से स्थापित की गयी |
आज शायद करीबन 82 वर्षा के बाद वह पहला दिन था जब फाजिल्का के दोनों युवा आईएएस अधिकारी डिप्टी कमिश्नर Himanshu Aggarwal और एडिशनल डिप्टी कमिश्नर सागर सेतीया के प्रयासों से आज फाजिल्का जिले को तीन बहुत ही खूबसूरत पुस्तकालय "प्रोजेक्ट क़िताब" के तहत समर्पित किये गए | हमारे युवा विधायक नरेन्दर सवना और फाजिल्का के एसएसपी भूपिंदर जी ने मिलकर इन तीनों पुस्तकालयों को फाजिल्का को समर्पित किया | शिक्षा इस शहर के नाम में ही नहीं बल्कि फाज़िलका की बुनियाद में है, आइये इन ज्ञान के भंडारों का ज्यादा से ज्यादा ज्ञान अर्जित कर फायदा उठाये | सभी लोगो का जो इस महान प्रयास में में शामिल हैं उन सब का कोटि कोटि धन्यवाद
