Top 2 bureaucrats summoned for not providing info-Fazilka Municipal Council

FEROZEPUR: The State Information Commissionhas served notices to two senior bureaucrats of thePunjab Government, including the principal secretary and director of local bodies department, for allegedly not providing the entire information sought by an RTI activist. 

The commission has asked them to appear before it on June 21 when the appeal will be taken up for hearing. RTI activist, Amar Nath Chetiwal, a resident of Fazilka town said he had submitted an application with the office of the Deputy Director, local bodies department and the Principal Secretary, Punjab, on March 11, 2011. 

He wanted information regarding allocation of various development projects by the Fazilka municipal council to its blue-eyed contractors even without inviting tenders. 

As both the officials failed in providing the information within the stipulated period, Chetiwal approached the State Information Commission. Ravi Singh, State Information Commissioner has served notices to both the senior officials and asked them to appear before it on June 21. The commission has also directed these senior officials to provide a copy of their replies to the complainant before appearing before the commission.
