On Saturday, a delegation of Fazilka residents, led by BJP MLA Surjit Kumar Jyani, met Sukhbir and sought re-attach- ment of 48 villages with Fazilka-- 33 were attached with Arniwala police station in Jalalabad and 15 with Sadar Abohar police station.
While he agreed to the demand for 33 villages, for the rest he assured to take up the issue with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Fazilka has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 62%. In Fazilka, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age
