अमृत सचदेवा, फाजिल्का : मेले पंजाबी की धनी संस्कृति का आइना हैं। ऐसे में संस्कृति के रखवालों की 'जननी' को इन मौकों पर कैसे भुलाया जा सकता है। इसी भावना को लेकर पांच अप्रैल से शुरू होने जा रहे 'फाजिल्का हेरीटेज फेस्टिवल' में एक शाम 'नारी शक्ति' विशेषकर देश भर में फाजिल्का के नाम का झंडा बुलंद कर रही यहां की 'युवा नारी शक्ति' को समर्पित रहेगी।

फेस्टिवल का आयोजन कर रही ग्रेजुएट वेलफेयर एसोसिएशन के सचिव नवदीप असीजा व पीआरओ लछमन दोस्त ने बताया कि महिला शक्ति को समर्पित इस संध्या में फाजिल्का का नाम चमकाने वाली क्षेत्र की रेसलिंग प्लेयर सुखविंद्र कौर, तीरंदाज मनवीर कौर, सेना में कैप्टन संध्या कटारिया और मदर टेरेसा पुरस्कार से सम्मानित संदीप कौर को यूथ आईकान के तौर पर सम्मानित किया जाएगा।

सेना में दे रही सेवाएं

स्थानीय बस्ती हजूर सिंह निवासी फार्मासिस्ट राजिंद्र कटारिया व अध्यापिका अंकुर कटारिया की बेटी कैप्टन संध्या ने दसवीं आर्मी स्कूल, 12वीं सर्व हितकारी स्कूल और बी-टेक इदौर से कंप्यूटर साइस से की। इसके बाद वह आर्मी में कमीशन लेकर लेफ्टिनेंट बनी। मौजूदा समय में वह सेना के जोधपुर स्थित इलेक्ट्रानिक्स एंड मकेनिकल ईजीनियरिंग विंग में बतौर कैप्टन तैनात हैं।

रेसलिंग में मनाया लोहा

गाव सैणिया के दर्शन सिंह की तीन बेटिया बलविंद्र कौर, सुखविंद्र कौर और मीना है। तीनों ही रेसलिंग प्लेयर है। सुखविंद्र कौर ने देश के विभिन्न रजच्यों में दमखम दिखाकर अनेक मेडल बटोरे। सुखविंद्र ने विभिन्न शहरों में होने वाली फ्री स्टाइल ओपन कुश्ती मुकाबलों में दम दिखाने के बाद जूनियर नेशनल जालंधर में सिल्वर मेडल, ओरगाबाद में नेशनल प्रतियोगिता में सिल्वर, इंटर कॉलेज प्रतियोगिता चंडीगढ़ से सिल्वर मेडल के अलावा स्टेट स्तर पर दो गोल्ड मेडल, दो सिल्वर और कांस्य पदक जीता है।

तीरंदाजी में गाड़े सफलता के झंडे

गाव चुवाडि़या वाली के जगसीर सिंह की बेटी मनवीर कौर स्कूल सेज्राच्य स्तर तक तीरंदाजी प्रतियोगिता में कई मेडल अपने नाम कर चुकी है। 2006-07 में सिक्किम मे जूनियर नेशनल, विजय वरदा में सीनियर नेशनल, नेशनल गेम्स गुवाहाटी, जूनियर नेशनल अमरावती, सीनियर नेशनल टाटानगर आदि में हुई प्रतियोगिताओं में कई मेडल अपने नाम किए। 2008 में पहला एशियन अरचेरी ग्राड बैंकॉक में हुए मुकाबले में भी उसने सिल्वर मेडल जीता। दूसरी साउथ एशियन अरचेरी चैंपियनशिप टाटानगर में भी गोल्ड मेडल जीता। दिसंबर, 11 में एशियन ओपन चैंपियनशिप योंगोन (म्यांमार) में कास्य पदक बटोरा। उसे डीएवी कालेज की मैनेजिंग कमेटी अप्रैल, 2008 में दो गोल्ड मेडल से भी सम्मानित कर चुकी है।

संस्कृति के क्षेत्र में दिया योगदान

कैलाश नगर निवासी दर्शन सिंह और जसबीर कौर की लाडली संदीप कौर को राष्ट्रीय सर्वशिक्षा अभियान की ओर से मदर टेरेसा स्टेट अवार्ड मिला है। सांस्कृतिक और शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में बेहतर प्रदर्शन के लिए उन्हें ये सम्मान दिया गया था। दोराहा में यूनिवर्सिटी यूथ फेस्टिवल में स्किट प्रतियोगिता में द्वितीय पुरस्कार के अलावा एकल प्रथम पुरस्कार भी हासिल किया है। वह एमआर सरकारी कालेज में 2008 में बेस्ट एथलीट भी रही है।

Patients suffer due to staff crunch at Fazilka civil hospital

The 101-year-old local civil hospital, having a sanctioned strength of 50 beds operating as 75 beds, is facing an acute shortage of doctors, nurses and other para-medics. The hospital, deemed to cater to the needs of a district hospital, has virtually been reduced to a community health centre in the last six months.

The hospital has sanctioned posts of 12 medical officers, of which eight are vacant. About six months back, eight doctors were there on the roll but the only medical specialist, Dr Davinder Bhukkal, and the skin specialist Dr SK Parnami, were promoted. Thereafter, the only surgeon, Dr Rajesh Sharma and child specialist Dr Hans Raj, were also promoted last week.

Different welfare programmes started by the state and the central governments such as family planning, NRHM, school health, and RNTCP, have been hit hard following the shortage of medical officers. There is a daily turn-out of about 400 patients in the OPD. A large number of family planning cases also pour in for surgery. During this peak season, over 200 delivery cases are also conducted in the hospital. Of these, around 20 per cent are obstructed labour cases.

Besides, a large number of general patients and medical emergencies remain unattended. Many needy patients who cannot afford costly private treatment are the worst-hit.

Hundreds of patients remain hovering in the OPD and emergency complex awaiting treatment. The doctors are burdened with the tardy job of maintaining the emergency services round-the-clock in the the absence of any emergency medical officer.

Along with this, these doctors remain involved in different compulsory programmes of the Health Department. They have to conduct post mortems and attend courts for evidence as legal obligation.

Similarly, of the 24 sanctioned posts of staff nurses, 11 are vacant. Of the nine sanctioned posts of sweepers, seven are vacant. The blood bank of the local hospital, which is supplying around 250 units of blood per month, three times more than its fixed target, is without a blood transfusion officer.

Senior Medical Officer SP Garg said, "At least two surgeons, two medical specialists, two gynaecologists, three emergency medical officers and one radiologist, skin specialist, child specialist and blood transfusion officer are urgently required." Besides, the vacancies of nurses need to be filled up. Twelve more ward servants and six sweepers, three laboratory technicians for blood bank are also required.

More budget for emergency and general patients is required because the user charge collection has fallen due to the government scheme of providing free delivery and Caesarean section services.

He also pleaded for installation of CT scan machine, a new ambulance, a digital X-ray equipped with the C-Art facility, an auto refractor meter for vision testing.

"The hospital should be upgraded to a district-level hospital with 100-bed facility to cater to the need of over two lakh population of Fazilka. The health authorities have submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Forest Minister Surjit Kumar Jyani," he added.

Fazilka lad clinches Awaz-e-Punjab title

Gurnam Bhullar of Fazilka has again proved his mettle by winning another title of Awaz-e-Punjab. The programme was organised by TV channel MH 1, in which about 12,000 youths had participated. Notably, Bhullar had won his first title 'Nikki Awaz Punjab Di' in the year 2008 also which was oragnised by the same channel.

Gurnam Bhullar, who is a Plus One student of the local Sarv Hitkari Vidya Mandir, was accorded a rousing welcome at the local Malout chowk by the activists of different NGOs after returning here on Saturday evening.

President, Municipal Council, Anil Sethi, general secretary, Graduate Welfare Association, Navdeep Asija, president, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports Club, Parmjit Singh, representative of the Cricket Association (Fazilka), Pankaj Dhamija and members of the Eco Club honoured Bhullar at the Malout chowk. "My parents, Baljit Singh Bhullar and Lakhwinder Kaur, always inspired me to achieve the goal." said Bhullar, adding that the school principal Madhu Sharma also guided him.

The first round of the programme Awaz-e-Punjab was initiated in November last year. About 12000 young boys and girls had participated in it. But in the grand finale, only four participants were shortlisted after dozens of rounds and finally, Gurnam Bhullar bagged the top slot. Famous Punjabi singer Harbhajan Mann and Malkeet Singh were the judges in the final show.

'आवाज पंजाब दी' बनकर लौटे गुरनाम

अमृत सचदेवा, फाजिल्का : शहर के गुरनाम भुल्लर एक पंजाबी चैनल पर लंबे समय से चल रहे संगीत मुकाबले 'आवाज पंजाब दी' के विजेता बने हैं।

स्थानीय सिविल लाइन निवासी बलजीत सिंह और लखविंदर कौर के पुत्र सर्वहितकारी विद्या मंदिर के 11वीं के विद्यार्थी गुरनाम भुल्लर यह खिताब जीतने के बाद शनिवार को यहां पहुंचे।

इस मौके पर गुरनाम भुल्लर ने बताया कि उसने इस प्रतियोगिता के ग्रैंड फिनाले में 12 हजार प्रतियोगियों को पछाड़ते हुए फाइनल में अपना स्थान पक्का किया। यहां पर मेल केटागरी के चार प्रतियोगियों को पीछे छोड़ते हुए उन्होंने खिताब पर कब्जा किया। शुक्रवार रात हुए फाइनल मुकाबले में पंजाबी गायक हरभजन मान और मलकीत सिंह जज थे।

बीएसएफ ने तेजा रूहेला में लगाया मेडिकल कैंप

बीएसएफ अबोहर रेंज के डीआईजी विमल सत्यार्थी के दिशा-निर्देश पर जिले के गांव तेजा रूहेला में बीएसएफ की ओर से नि:शुल्क मेडिकल चेकअप कैंप का आयोजन शनिवार को किया गया। कैंप में 210 मरीजों की जांच की गई।

कमांडर मुहम्मद यासीन ने बताया कि कैंप में बीएसएफ के डाक्टर एसके राय ने मरीजों की जांच की। मरीजों को दवाइयां भी बीएसएफ की तरफ से नि:शुल्क मुहैया करवाई गई। कैंप का मुख्य उद्देश्य सीमा पर बसे गांवों में स्वास्थ्य सुविधाएं मुहैया करवाने के अलावा उन्हें स्वच्छता के प्रति जागरूक करना रहा।

फाजिल्का का पहला हेरीटेज फेस्टिवल पांच अप्रैल से

फाजिल्का के जिला बनने के बाद ग्रेजूएट्स वेलफेयर एसोसिएशन की ओर से शहीद भगत सिंह स्पो‌र्ट्स क्लब और टी-20 क्रिकेट क्लब के सहयोग से छठा फाजिल्का विरासत महोत्सव 2012 का आयोजन पांच अप्रैल से किया जा रहा है। यह महोत्सव आठ अप्रैल तक चलेगा। महोत्सव में पंजाब सरकार की ओर से पंजाब विरासत व पर्यटन विकास बोर्ड व नगर कौंसिल का विशेष सहयोग रहेगा। एसोसिएशन के सचिव नवदीप असीजा ने बताया कि महोत्सव में हाथ की बनी वस्तुएं, फाजिल्का की जूती, कुदरती आहार, पंजाबी और राजस्थानी खाना, विरासत भवन, फाजिल्का के इतिहास की जानकारी के लिए प्रकाशित पुस्तकें व गीत आदि मुख्य आकर्षण रहेगे। उन्होंने बताया कि महोत्सव में गिद्दा, भंगड़ा, बाबा पोखर सिंह की झूमर व अन्य सास्कृतिक कार्यक्रम भी करवाए जाएंगे। इसके अलावा इबादत बैंड की सुफियाना शाम भी महफिल की रौनक बनेंगी। महोत्सव में फाजिल्का की बेटी पदमश्री पुष्पा हस और पदम भूषण कंवर सुरिन्द्र सिंह बेदी को श्रद्धासुमन भेट किए जाएंगे। कार्यक्रम का आगाज डॉ. विवेक करीर की आवाज में गाए फाजिल्का के गीत मेरे शहर नाम याराना रब्बी प्यार वरगा, मेरा फाजिल्का मेरे सच्चे यार वरगा से होगा। उन्होंने बताया कि महोत्सव में देश विदेश में फाजिल्का का नाम रोशन करने वाली 10 हस्तियों को सम्मानित किया जाएगा।

Winners of produce contests honoured on concluding day of PAU Kisan Mela

On the second day of the Golden Jubilee Kisan Mela, organised by Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Vice- Chancellor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University (GADVASU) Dr V K Teneja honoured the winners of various produce competitions.

He said the common mission of both PAU and GADVASU was to work for the welfare of farming community of Punjab on a sustainable basis, and both the universities organised the kisan mela jointly.

Dr Teneja said in view of the shrinking landholdings, the subsidiary occupations such as dairy farming, fishery, poultry, goat farming, bee-keeping, and mushroom growing had got an added meaning in the context of enhancing farming income.

A crop produce competition for vegetables, fruits, flowers and field crops was held on Wednesday.

In the category of vegetables, first prizes were clinched by Dalbir Singh (Gaggarpur, Sangrur) for radish and shimla mirch , Davinder Singh (Mehraj, Bathinda) for green onion, Gurbir Singh (Barshi Rajpootan, Amritsar) for cauliflower, Gurpreet Singh (Boolpur, Kapurthala) for peas and turnip, Jagbir Singh (Nagra, Sangrur) for cabbage and Karnail Singh (Aliana, Fazilka) for green chilli. Besides, first prizes were bagged by Jagjit Singh (Agoul, Patiala) for carrot, Kulwinder Singh (Nagra, Sangrur) for tomato, Manjeet S Ghuman (Nagra, Sangrur) for french bean, Nanak Singh (Mianpur, Ropar) for garlic, Ranjit Singh (Paddi, Ropar) for potato, Sarwan Singh Thind (Basti Bishan Singh, Ferozepur) for turmeric, Sukhdev Singh (Salabatpur, Bathinda) for petha , Sukhwinder Singh (Diyalpur Bhagta, Bathinda) for brinjal and Vikramjit Singh (Nagra, Sangrur) for cucumber. Balraj Singh (Khanal Khurd, Sangrur) won the first prize for mushrooms.

Among fruits, first prizes were won by Ajmer Singh (Langrian, Sangrur) for banana, Lakhwinder Singh (Toot, Ferozepur) for ber, Manjeet Kaur (Bridwan, Patiala) for guava, Kanwarbir Singh (Muktamwala, Kapurthala) for lemon, Siddharth Kumar (Khepanwali, Fazilka) for kinnow and Tarlochan Singh (Mianpur, Ropar) for papaya.

On this occasion, special prizes were awarded to Amrik Singh, Phillowal (Hoshiarpur) for turmeric, Anmol of Patiala for marigold, to Jinder Singh, Sandharan (Ropar) for black carrot and moongbean, to Manjit Singh Ghuman of Nagra (Sangrur) for shimla mirch, to Satnam Singh, Aulakh (Faridkot) for marigold, to Sukhdev Singh, Salabatpur (Bathinda) for chakotra and to Surinderpal Singh (Patiala) for strawberry. Darshan Singh, Muktramwala (Kapurthala) and Eanyet Shergil of Mejhal Khurd (Patiala) were given consolation prizes for lemon and flower growing, respectively.

During on-the-spot competitions of "drawing", "making of utility articles out of waste material", "mud decoration" and "preparation of sprouted dal products", organised by the College of Home Science, first prizes were clinched by Amandeep Singh (Kaunke Kalan), Charanjit Kaur (Mehna, Moga), Parkash Kaur (Kot Kapura) and Gurminder Kaur (Dad, Ludhiana). Harbans Kaur got first prize in the category of women entrepreneurs.

Fazilka heritage fest from April 5

The Fazilka heritage festival would be organised from April 5 to 8 at the local Pratap Bagh."The sixth heritage festival would be organised by the Graduate Welfare Association, Fazilka, in association with the Punjab Heritage and Tourism Development Board, Municipal Council, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports Club and the T-20 Cricket Club," informed GWAF general secretary Navdeep Asija.

Fazilka's famous handicraft, popular juti, organic, Punjabi and Rajasthani food, over five decade old articles displayed at the Virasat Bhawan in Fazilka, books depicting the history of this border town, Fazilka- based Baba Pokhar Dass's famous jhumar, giddha and sufiana songs from the Ibadat band, the food park and the agro-park would be the main attractions. The four nights of the festival would be dedicated to youths, farmers, women and army jawans.

देश सेवा के जज्बे ने संध्या को बनाया कैप्टन

सरहदी जिले की बेटियों में देश सेवा का जज्बा कूट-कूट कर भरा है। इस समय देश सेवा में फाजिल्का की बेटी संध्या कटारिया अपना अहम रोल निभा रही हैं। बस्ती हजूर सिंह निवासी फार्मासिस्ट राजिन्द्र कटारिया व अध्यापिका अंकुर कटारिया की लाडली ने सेना में कैप्टन बनकर बुलंदियों को छुआ है। इस समय वह जोधपुर में तैनात है। फाजिल्का के आर्मी स्कूल से दसवीं की शिक्षा हासिल करने के बाद संध्या कटारिया ने बारहवीं सर्व हितकारी स्कूल से की। इसके बाद संध्या ने इंदौर से कंप्यूटर साइंस बी-टेक की शिक्षा हासिल की। वह आर्मी में बतौर लेफ्टिनेंट तैनात हुई तो उसकी खुशी का ठिकाना न रहा। वर्तमान में वह जोधपुर में इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स एंड मेकेनिकल इंजीनियरिंग जोधपुर कैप्टन के पद तैनात है।
दादा का सपना किया सच : संध्या के खानदान में कोई सेना में भर्ती नहीं हुआ, लेकिन दादा मंगत राय कटारिया का सपना था कि बेटी 
पुलिस में भर्ती होकर देश सेवा का फर्ज निभाए। जब वह सेना में भर्ती हो गई तो परिजनों की खुशी का ठिकाना न रहा।

Main road encroached upon, turns into dumping ground

The main road leading to the Government College, DAV BEd College and DAV Senior Secondary School here has virtually been turned into a garbage dumping ground where people have encroached upon. The Municipal Council had worked out an ambitious project of creating a divider for the smooth running of traffic on the road.

The dividers have been laid and electric poles have been erected on it but the space on the left side of the divider, offering entry for the DAV BEd College and DAV Senior Secondary School, have become a garbage dumping ground.

The old electricity poles have not been removed. The roads on either side have not been metalled. There are big potholes. Followers of a religious sect have encroached upon in the middle of the road and have raised a temporary structure. The construction activities have been abandoned.

"We had approached the electricity board officials to remove the electric poles before the imposition of the model code of conduct but they did not bother. As soon as the poles are shifted, the encroachment would be removed immediately," said Sukhdev Singh, Executive Officer, Municipal Council, Fazilka. Students have to travel on this road several times a day.

The thickly populated Anandpur and Kanshi Ram Colony are also located here. On the right side of the divider, scores of shops have cropped up making it a busy area.

"It is difficult for the residents to cover this bumpy stretch, the only connecting road to the main town," regretted Manjit Singh of Kanshi Ram Colony.

Moreover, a large numbers of BSF personnel also have to travel through this road to visit the town.

Veteran social activist and retired professor of IIT Roorkee, Bhupinder Singh has offered the services of the Graduate Welfare Association Fazilka if the authorities are hesitant to remove the encroachments.

‘Jan Lokpal box’ to help minister make up lost ground of his slender win

A historic win in the state seems to have spurred the ruling SAD-BJP's legislators to look at different ways to consolidate the mandate. While the Shiromani Akali Dal's Dakha MLA, Manpreet Ayali promised a special phone number for graft-related grievances a few days ago, the new Forest Minister Surjit Kumar Jayani on Saturday installed a complaint box outside his office in Fazilka constituency.

Calling it a 'Jan Lokpal Box', Jayani says the reduced victory margin had forced him into the move. "This time my winning margin was only of 1,600 votes as compared to 16,000 plus in the previous polls. So keeping this margin in mind, I have installed this suggestion/ complaint box outside my office so that voters can tell me about my shortcomings and offer suggestions as well," Jayani said.

The BJP minister had not even celebrated his victory because of the thin winning margin and finally on Saturday there was a welcome rally for Jayani, in which BJP state general secretary Kamal Sharma was also present.

"I will improve my shortcomings after I get to know as what were the reasons which reduced by winning margin. In addition to this, I will also streamline the system if the masses tell me their problems in various departments. This box is for all those who want to keep their identity secret but also want to get their problems solved. A four-member committee has been formed to look into these complaints and this box will be opened once or twice in a week," Jayani said. The forest minister also says that he will reveal a dedicated phone number, through which , he says, voters can call him any time for their work and grievances.

मनवीर ने पदकों पर लगाए निशाने : Fazilka Youth ICON

गांव चौहाडिय़ां वाली की मनवीर के मन में एक ही तमन्ना थी कि उसके तीर से निकला हर निशाना उसे पदक दिलाए। 

 

इसीलिए उसने स्कूल में पढ़ाई के दौरान तीरंदाजी में अपने जौहर दिखाने शुरू किए। पिता जगसीर और मां नरिंद्र कौर ने भी उसे अपने लक्ष्य को हासिल करने के लिए प्रेरित किया। फिर क्या था शुरू हो गया सफलता का दौर। सरकारी कन्या सीनियर सेकंडरी स्कूल में 2004 में उसने जोनल स्कूल टूर्नामेंट में गोल्ड हासिल किया। 
परिजनों ने मनवीर को तीरंदाजी के लिए हर सुविधा प्रदान की। सफलता से शुरू हुआ यह सफर लगातार जारी है और उसने कभी पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा। अब वह नेशनल स्तर की खिलाड़ी है और म्यांमार और बैंकॉक में भी कांस्य हासिल कर चुकी है। 

इन मैडलों पर साधा निशाना
मनवीर कौर ने स्कूल स्तर पर जोनल, जिला से लेकर राज्य स्तर पर कांस्य, सिल्वर और गोल्ड मैडलों पर कब्जा जमाया। इसके बाद 2006-07 में वह नेशनल स्तर के टूर्नामेंट में कूद गई। जहां भी उसने अपनी प्रतिभा का लोहा मनवाया और कई मेडल हासिल किए। सिक्किम में हुई जूनियर नेशनल, विजय वरदा में सीनियर नेशनल, नेशनल गेम्स गुवाहाटी, जूनियर नेशनल अमरावती व सीनियर नेशनल टाटानगर आदि में अनेक मेडल हासिल किए। इसके बाद 2008 में मनवीर कौर ने पहले एशियन अरचेरी ग्रांड मुकाबले में बैंकॉक में सिल्वर मेडल जीता। टाटा नगर में आयोजित दूसरे साउथ एशियन अरचेरी चैंपियनशिप में उसने गोल्ड हासिल किया। इसी साल दिसंबर में मनवीर ने पहली एशियन ओपन चैंपियनशिप योंगोन(म्यांमार) में कांस्य पदक जीता। 
बहन तरनदीप कौर भी आगे जगसीर सिंह की दूसरी बेटी तरनदीप कौर अध्यापिका है। नेट व यूजीसी क्लियर कर चुकी तरनदीप कौर गिद्दे और भंगड़े में नाम रोशन कर चुकी है। 

राष्ट्रपति अवार्ड की तमन्ना 
मनवीर कौर इस समय अमृतसर में एमपी एड में फाइनल ईयर की छात्रा है। प्रथम वर्ष में मनवीर कौर यूनिवर्सिटी में टॉपर रही। उसकी तमन्ना है कि फाइनल में भी वह टॉपर रहे और राष्ट्रपति अवार्ड हासिल करे। जगसीर सिंह अपनी बेटी की इस तमन्ना को पूरा करने के लिए हर संभव प्रयास कर रहे हैं। दहेज व सुरक्षा की पीड़ा
कमनवीर की मां नरिन्द्र कौर का कहना है कि अगर दहेज के खिलाफ सभी जागरूक हो जाएं तो बेटी बेटे से भी अधिक सम्मान दिला सकती है। उन्होंने बताया कि आज के जमाने में लोग इसलिए बेटी पैदा करने से घबराते हैं कि बेटी पैदा होते ही दहेज और सुरक्षा की जिम्मेदारी बढ़ जाती है। सरकार से बेरुखी सरकार ने कई घोषणाएं की कि खिलाडिय़ों को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए सहायता की जाएगी, मगर मनवीर कौर के अंतरराष्ट्रीय खिलाड़ी होने के बावजूद आज तक सरकार ने कोई सुविधा नहीं दी। अगर सरकार उन्हें प्रोत्साहन दे तो वह देश का नाम रोशन करने की क्षमता रखती है।

सेना सीमांत क्षेत्र के बच्चों को देगी कंप्यूटर ज्ञान

पाकिस्तान की सीमा से सटे गांवों में बसे ग्रामीणों के बच्चों की शिक्षा के लिए पहले से विभिन्न सहायता प्रोग्राम चला रही सेना ने अब ऐसे बच्चों को कंप्यूटर ज्ञान देने के लिए सीमावर्ती गांवों में कंप्यूटर सेंटर खोलने का निर्णय लिया है। इस फैसले पर अमल शुरू भी हो गया है, इसके तहत जहां जहा कंप्यूटर सेंटर खोले जाने हैं वहां वहां कंप्यूटर व लैब से संबंधित अन्य सामान भी मुहैया करवा दिया गया है। जल्द ही यह सेंटर बच्चों को कंप्यूटर ज्ञान बांटना शुरू कर देंगे।

यहां वीरवार को इस बारे में जानकारी देते हुए सेना के फाजिल्का से स्थानांतरित हो रहे ब्रिगेडियर अरुल डेनिस और उनकी जगह पर नए आए ब्रिगेडियर राकेश रैना ने बताया कि सेना ने पूरे पंजाब भर में पाकिस्तान की सीमा से सटे गांवों में से चुनिंदा गांव चुनकर कंप्यूटर प्रशिक्षण का प्रबंध किया गया है। चुने गए गांव ऐसे हैं जहां आसपास के सीमावर्ती गांवों के बच्चे आसानी से पहुंच सकें। सेंटर बनाने के लिए चुने गए स्थान के आधा दर्जन गांवों के केंद्र में होने की स्थिति को ध्यान में रखते हुए ही फाजिल्का के सीमावर्ती गांवों में से गांव आसफवाला का चयन किया गया है। इसी गांव में 1971 के भारत-पाक युद्ध में शहीद भारतीय सैनिकों की समाधि व शहीदी स्मारक भी हैं। इसी स्मारक में यह सेंटर खोला जाना है। ताकि अधिकाधिक बच्चे आधुनिक युग में कंप्यूटर शिक्षा ग्रहण करने के साथ साथ देश पर निसार जवानों से प्रेरणा ले खुद में देशभक्ति के भाव और प्रगाढ़ कर सकें। ब्रिगेडियर डेनिस व ब्रिगेडियर रैना ने बताया कि सीमा से सटे गांवों में खोले जाने वाले इन कंप्यूटर सेंटरों में पूरी तरह निशुल्क कंप्यूटर शिक्षा प्रदान की जाएगी जिससे सीमावर्ती क्षेत्र के बच्चों को काफी फायदा होगा। कोर कमांडर, बठिंडा के क्षेत्र में आने वाले क्षेत्र में खोले जाने वाले सेंटरों का सामान भी भेजा जा चुका है।

तीनों बेटियों ने कठिनाइयों को दी पटखनी

गांव सैणियां के दर्शन सिंह भले ही मजदूरी कर परिवार का पेट पालते हैं, लेकिन वह अपनी तीनों बेटियों को किसी क्षेत्र में पीछे नहीं देखना चाहते। यही नहीं उनकी तीनों बेटियां भी पिता की प्रेरणा से कठिनाइयों को पटकनी देने में पीछे नहीं हैं। तीनों ही रेसलिंग में प्रतिभा दिखाकर कई पदक बटोर चुकी हैं। 

हालांकि ग्रामीण दर्शन सिंह से कहते थे कि बेटियों को इस खेल के लिए प्रोत्साहन न दे, लेकिन उसने किसी की परवाह न की और खुद उन्हें ट्रेनिंग दी। जब बड़ी बेटी सुखविन्द्र कौर ने देश के विभिन्न राज्यों में हुई कुश्ती प्रतियोगिता में दमखम दिखाकर मेडल बटोरे तो ग्रामीण उसे शाबाशी देने के लिए पहुंच गए। आज हालत यह है कि उससे प्रेरित होकर कई ग्रामीण अपनी बेटियों को कुश्ती के मैदान में भिड़ाने के लिए तैयार करने लगे हैं। सुखविन्द्र कौर से बड़ी बलविन्द्र कौर बीए-सेकंड ईयर की छात्रा है और वह जिला स्तर पर कई मेडल हासिल कर चुकी है। जबकि सबसे छोटी मीना बारहवीं कक्षा की छात्रा है और वह राज्य स्तर तक की कई प्रतियोगिताओं में हिस्सा ले चुकी है। पिता की प्रेरणा से कुश्ती में अपनी ताकत के जौहर दिखाने वाली सुखविन्द्र कौर ने कभी पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा और देश के अलग-अलग शहरों में होने वाली फ्री स्टाइल ओपन कुश्ती मुकाबलों में कूद गई।

इंटरव्यू नहीं दे पाई : पिता दर्शन सिंह मजदूरी करते हैं। महंगाई के इस दौर में मजदूरी से पेट पालना बड़ा  मुश्किल है। इसके बावजूद पिता ने  बेटियों को अच्छी खुराक दी। मगर कई बार जब मजदूरी नहीं मिलती तो पिता बेटियों को अच्छी खुराक देने में असमर्थ हो जाते हैं। 

एक बार तो ऐसा भी हो चुका है कि सुखविन्द्र कौर का सीमा सुरक्षा बल में नौकरी के लिए फार्म आया, मगर घर में पैसे न होने की वजह से वह अमृतसर के छछरेटा बीएसएफ इंटरव्यू के लिए नहीं पहुंच पाई। इसके बावजूद दर्शन सिंह अपनी बेटियों को शिक्षा और खेल में कभी पीछे रखने की भी नहीं सोचते। पदकों के लगाए ढेर 
सुखविन्द्र कौर जूनियर नेशनल जालंधर में सिल्वर, औरंगाबाद नेशनल प्रतियोगिता में सिल्वर, इंटर कॉलेज चंडीगढ़ से सिल्वर के अलावा राज्य स्तर पर दो गोल्ड, दो सिल्वर और एक कांस्य पदक जीत चुकी है। स्कूल व कॉलेज स्तर पर जीते पदकों की संख्या तो दर्जनों में है। कभी नहीं भूल पाऊंगी 

सुखविन्द्र कौर ने बताया कि जब जालंधर में ओपन फाइनल प्रतियोगिता हो रही थी तो खेल शुरू होने से पहले उसे भूख लगी। जिस कारण उसने एक दुकान से पूड़ी खा ली। जिस कारण उसकी तबीयत बिगड़ गई और वह फाइनल में हार गई, जिसे वह कभी भूल नहीं पाएगी।

NGO Social Welfare Society Ferozepur, motivating masses for eye donation

FEROZEPUR: It is beautiful to see the nature's beauty. There is a ray of hope for those who lost their eyes-sight but can see the world with the help of eye transplantation. More-over, the transplanting of eyes to light to the blind persons is a miracle in the medical science. This movement needs to be popularized and followed by more families so that blindness could be reduced and organs after death could be useful for the human beings itself. 
 
In the context, the Social Welfare Society an active NGO is doing a yeoman's service by motivating the families for donation of eyes of their wards after death as per the "Will" signed by the person before death. In a small border town, newly formed district Fazilka, Jagdish Bhateja resident of Monga Street, has become the 150th eye donor.
 
SWS executive members, Raj Kishore Kalra and Siren Lal Kataria informed that Gaurav Bhateja, came in contact with Amrit Lal Karir and Kamal Kishore Yadav of SWS and showed his consent with the willingness of his family members, to donate eyes of his father, with the motivation of Ajay Galhotra and Dr. Manohar Lal Sukhija.
